In this privacy notice, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and University of Primorska will provide you with information on the collection of your personal data from the New Digital and Multimodal Literacies in Foreign Language Learning research project, which is aimed at gathering data on the development of plural, digital and multimodal literacies in foreign and second language learning in a formal context. The research project’s Principal Investigator is Elisa Da Lio and the project is supervised by Professors Carmel Mary Coonan and Helena Bažec. The research project has been developed in accordance with the sector’s research standards and policies and it is hosted by the Department of Linguistics and Comparative Cultural Studies of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and at the Department of Italian Studies of University of Primorska where it will be retained for 5 years after the conclusion of the research.

PERSONAL DATA CATEGORIES, PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASIS OF DATA PROCESSING The joint controllers do not collect personal data through the present questionnaire. Said questionnaire, created through Google Forms, will be distributed via social networks, email, and other online resources. The joint controllers will collect information in a variety of ways, such as through questionnaires, interviews and focus groups: these will likely include the collection of personal data through audio recording. The processing of personal data will be carried out with the use of computerised procedures, adopting appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect it from unauthorised or illegal access, destruction, loss of integrity and confidentiality, even if accidental in nature. In order to protect the confidentiality of the participants, the information collected will be de-identified which means that all direct identifiers (such as name, surname, fiscal code, etc.) will be removed and replaced by a number instead and, therefore, the participants will no longer be directly identifiable from the data. Transcriptions of recorded interviews and focus groups will be made immediately, and the original audio files will be deleted. De-identified data will only be used to carry out the research activities.
